I ran into this problem also. I found out it was a character limitation for the search rule in the SQL code. i.e. if the search rule had too many letters and spaces Altiris wouldn't save the rule. Altiris support was able to provide me with the SQL code to fix the problem which worked. Unfortunatly I no longer have the code but it should be easy to get by calling Symantec
