Exclamation Connection closed; Session terminated

Hello

I have an issue with the Aclient. It tries to connect, but eventually it will show an error message:-

"Connection closed; Session terminated"

However, when the server gets rebooted, Aclient connects ok and it will show:-

"Client record updated"

Is there anything that I need to re-configure or alter any settings on the server? Clearly, I do not want to have to reboot the server when it fails to connect.

Any ideas or tips would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Goraek.

We had the same problem 4 times last week. Only a reboot solved that problem DS 6.8 SP1
Until now everything seems to work.

Hello,

I have the same problem - I think the problem is the DS 6.8 SP x. I don't want to "downgrade" to 6.5 again...
Any fixes?

We are running DS 6.8 SP1 and Alcient .286.

Is there something I need to edit/modify?

Every night before my SQL backup, I stop my DS services. Then I restart them after the backup (15 minutes later). No problem with the error message you are having problems with.

is it a must to stop all services?
thought it wud be ok leaving it running 24/7?

also, which services do you stop/run in order?

i usually use RAAD to restart altiris services....

We had this same problem and for someone reason it was only occuring when we were redirecting boot image on the DS server to a boot image on a locate site pxe server. I removed the redirect and solved the issue.

If you deleted the computers from DS and let the machines boot up into DS again they would just sit and wait connected to DS. As soon as I dropped the job down it would automatically reboot and try to boot up to the local pxe image and go into the loop of connecting and disconnecting automatically and then rebooting again.

Hope this might help you.

We've learned that some applications don't like to lose their connection to their database during SQL backups. I always restart my services after rebooting my SQL server, too.

I do it in this order:

Stop Altiris PXE Config Helper
Stop Altiris PXE Manager
Stop Altiris Deployment Server Console Manager
Stop Altiris eXpress Server
Stop Altiris Deployment Server DB Management
Stop Altiris Deployment Server Data Manager

Start Altiris Deployment Server Data Manager
Start Altiris Deployment Server DB Management
Start Altiris eXpress Server
Start Altiris Deployment Server Console Manager
Start Altiris PXE Manager
Start Altiris PXE Config Helper
