Depending on the fields you need to display.
Write the list of fields you want to appear.
This will give you a list of tables you need to access to get the information.
Are your departments all known in the Notification Server?
Are you importing from Active Directory with OUs corresponding to Department Computer with the selection you want for the assets?

A report could be done in 5 minutes but the analysis should be properly done in front.

Open SQL Query Analyzer or SQL Server Management Studio...

Look the various tables prefixed by Inv and
Tables names and fields names you need.

I could help building the statement with these informations...

If it seems too much try to write which field you want to display and I will see if I have the tables/fields in mind
