Ahci

Hi

I have a new hardware type to build (HP 6930) using SATA AHCI mode. I am using DS 6.9 SP1 DeployAnywhere database for MSD drivers.

I have added the drivers to the database but still getting bluescreen.

Is there something else I need to be doing?

Thanks

what SATA controller driver(s) are you using? Did you use sysprep to build the original image, scripted install or a plain install?

I can't remember for sure, but I think a 6930 was the cause for me to end up writing this article: https://www-secure.symantec.com/conn...i-sata-support

I know I have it working from within the image using those drivers. The article doesn't apply to your scenario with deployanywhere, but the intel link should be the right drivers if nothing else.

Hi
I am using the Intel ICH9M driver, the driver works if I build the machine manually using the F6 or add
to an unattended. I built the image using sysprep enabling mass storage device support using built-in
drivers on a machine set to IDE. I was trying to find a way of not having to redo the image and adding
the drivers with sysprep as I was under the impression that this was handled by DeployAnywhere. I
logged a call with Altiris support and they said that because the image was originally created on IDE it
would not work on AHCI.
I have given up for now but would still like to try and get this working without recreating image.
Thanks

The whole thing about it being created on IDE causing it doesn't sound right to me. That would defeat the whole purpose of DeployAnywhere. Was that ticket escalated? If not I would follow it up. Put an enhancement request in to have it renamed to DeploySomeplaces if that is the answer they give you.

If you look in my article I posted the links to methods other people came up with to inject the registry entries in the image. Just click the ICH9 link near the bottom.

Good Luck.

Thanks for getting back to me. I've closed the call now, but hopefully will battle on to get it resolved. I was under the impression that DeployAnywhere was for this exact thing, but I guess not...........

Will let you know if I have a result.
