Connection Closed; Session terminated

Hi all,

I'm new to deployment server and i'm having some troubles getting things started. Whenever I pxe boot a workstation it loads the winpe environment and goes through the following sequence.

All my client says is Starting Agent X:\dagent\dagent.exe
Location Agent
Calling custom actions
Then when the window pops up it goes through a number of things and finishes with the following.
Connection Closed, Session terminated

It then reboots.

When I remove the computer account from the altiris deployment server and follow the same process again it boots up and then instead of restarting it sits and waits for a job.

As soon as I pass a job to the machine it comes back with Connection Closed;Session Terminated.

Things I've tried so far include:

Restarting the server
Removing the network team
Creating a new boot image
Creating different jobs

I have a case running on the altiris symantec board

and also looked closely at a case on this board. I'm unable to put the links in as i've had less than 15 posts but if you need them let me know.

The above article mentions a tickle function which i'm not quite sure how to check. He mentions that the tickle function is using port 402 which is the same port the DS server uses to communication. Could this be our problem also?

We are running version

6.9 (Build 164)

Some further information is that we operate in a multi site office with our DS on a different site to mine. We have a pxe server at each site with IP helpers in place to ensure our pxeboot goes to the right location.

On the DS server we have one main share boot image which then redirects to our local one on our local pxe server.

Any more information that you need please ask and i'll do my best to find it for you.

Regards

Byron

Wait jobs in altiris

Hey,

Have you tried using the "wait..." job in altiris? When you create a job it is in the same menu as "Create Disk Image..." "Run Script..." "Power Control", its on the very bottom. It boots the client to automation and waits for user interaction, so it sits in WinPE until you are ready to deploy.

We use this frequently to help with multicasting, instead of having 50+ machines try to PXE boot simultaneously we stagger them, then send out the one deployment job to all machines.

Have you been able to image your machines whatsoever, if you manually run rdeploy.exe from the express share on your altiris server, are you able to successfully deploy the image?
