General Queston

Hello to everyone

I am brand new to Altiris and just got Deployment Server 6.9 Sp2 up and running the past few weeks

I am trying to create/deploy an image using the built in SysPrep option. Seems pretty straight forward but I am hung up on a couple of things.

First can anyone direct me to a page/info where they outline the exact steps you should take to take an image of a new systems using the built in SysPrep option?

Second: When I try and restore the image(even to the exact PC it was just taken from) the PC comes up missing the video drivers...Which were already setup before the image was taken...If I run SysPrep by hand and restore using our old image software this never takes place...How can I fix this?

Also-I am using WinPE and installing it using the automation partition, not using PXE.

Thank you for any help!
-Sean

Honestly, I find I have better control using sysprep outside of the DS. You may want to just focus on that.

Tired

I figured all that stuff out on my own...Alot of work for really no reason. I don’t understand why Altiris does not get you setup and running? I mean I will still end up taking the classes at some point but why make things so hard at the start. Silly.

Can anyone recommend any good books which you can buy on DS6.9 or NS7?

Also-Does anyone know if DS6.9 is going away with the upgrades coming in the fall?

Thanks in advance!

Books for NS6 and etc JeepJazz Media - Cooking with Altiris Client Management Suite Level 1

Nothing third party out for 7.

32-bit DS is going to be eventually phased out into the Symantec Management platform found in 7. Word around the camp fire is 6.9 SP3 will be the final one of the 6.x line.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but as you mentioned DS7, do you know when PXE automation will be included in SMP 7?

As that is what is holding off us upgrading at the moment.

Zero touch capabilities in for next gen DS will be in 7.1

There is a service pack coming this August for NS7 Core ... pretty sure that won't include DS 7.1 but I could be mistaken.
