Faulting Application Express.exe

Hey Guys,

I'm having a very frustrating issue with DS Console. I have about 10 helpdesk folks using DS Console as their remote control and deployment program. The Console is installed on their systems, pointing back to the DS server. I can have 10 to 12 consoles running at a time and hadn't been having any issues.

Recently, every once in awhile, DS will crash with the typical "If you'd like to send info to microsoft about this error" XP crash message. The event log had a little more detail (see below).

I found a M$ hot fix that concerned the offending dll, applied it to the problem machines, but nothing changed. The error typically occurs when attempting to remote control or push a software package out via DS. It doesn't happen all the time, just enough to become troublesome. I've searched the forums and the KB but have come up empty. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Not to sound like a newb but where can I find the DS Log...I always have just used event viewer in Windows to troubleshoot issues with DS.

Oh hey, sorry about that. I was thinking on the client side, not on the server.

I looked too late on the AEXENGINE log (it only has stuff for this morning) so I'll have to wait for the next instance), and for the console log - it has no incidents reported at the time of the issue.

We have been having the same problem here for a while as well. The explanation we got from support was

" This stored procedure is called when the history needs to be moved to the archive log and is not a user configurable option. It is also called once every 24 hours - also not user configurable.

Development has fixed multiple bugs around this stored procedure, and in fact this exact procedure no longer exists in 6.9."

Our SQL DBA found that there was an issue with a stored procedure that was causing our problem and as a result KB45284 has been created to address this issue. I'm not sure if you are having the exact same problem, but this seems to have made a difference here. I still get these errors in the event Log:
Faulting application eXpress.exe, version 6.8.0.378, faulting module eXpress.exe, version 6.8.0.378, fault address 0x0001b16c.
The console seems to still be working fine though. We are planning to upgrade in the next two weeks and that is supposed to resolve the last of our issues.

Hope this helps!!!
