Dell Client Manager - Automatically populate warranty info?

We're running the latest version of Dell Client Manager and would like to capture warranty information for our Dell workstations reporting in.

I can update this information on a workstation-by-workstation basis, by opening up the resource manager page for the PC, go to the Real-Time tab, and choose the Update Dell Warranty option under the Management Tasks section.

After I do this, there's a new table created under the Dell section of the workstation's inventory tab that's called Warranty (From Dell Web Site) that has the information in it.

What has everyone else done in terms of gathering inventory information for their workstations and getting it into Altiris to report against?

We have a 4 year desktop refresh with lease cycles with Dell. They provide us reports with the associated serial number, Lease date, terms, and Warranty information. We then import this information into Asset 6.5/CMDB using the connector solution and a OLE datasource. This information would then be stored in the asset side of the house. I agree that being able to force this update for all compatible Dell Clients would be great. Where is my link the the enhancement request again..................

I was curious if anybody had a update on this. We also could really benefit from being able to report on these devices by their warranty date. If we go to "Update Dell Warranty" in the Management Tasks folder in the Real-Time console (in the Dell Client Manager tree), we see all of the information we need. If we go to the Dell Warranty section under General Configuration it only has the default values with the dates all being from 1998.

There has got to be a way to pass the information from the Update page to the actual Warranty page which would allow for easier reporting and review. I'm presuming this may be easier with the CMDB - which of course we haven't implemented just yet...
Has anybody else accomplished this or is this still a pipe dream for me?

Thanks

I have made some progress in this area. I used the idea that dfrancis used and discovered that it populates the Inv_OMCA_Dell_Warranty table. I have been able to do some very simple querying against this with some success; although I'm not that good with SQL queries yet.

The main issue is what he pointed out. you have to go into each machine and do this manually. One problem I've been having though with this is that some machines will not update which is very strange.

I would love to find a way to automate this process as well because I have set up a hardware refresh process and with this information loaded into the database, I could run quarterly reports to know which machines are due.
