Disaster Recovery Approach

We're prepping for our first DR with Altiris end of this year. I've read the documented information on bringing NS and DS back up, and understand how to change clients from either to point to the new servers etc.

I guess my main question is whether there are issues or potential pitfalls with having the DR backup server in production. We would like to have veritas doing nightly replication on the necessary data and files, and would ideally be able to simply rename the DR server to the production server name. This should make the NS clients happy since they only care about the DNS entry, and we'll only really have to deal with PXE settings and DS clients.

I'm not a server admin, our Altiris falls under desktop ownership, so excuse any glaring ignorance I might be displaying but is there anything I'm missing as to why this approach would be no good? The more time we can shave off our DR runs the happier we'll all be!

DS 6.8 SP2, NS 6 SP3 R6 and related resources are all on the same server. We have a fairly small environment, 300+ clients, but we have 15 or so small and very small satellite offices nationwide. I found brief information in the reference guide to setting up a duplicate NS server in the environment, but it doesnt go into detail.

Thanks
