HTTP error 500

Not sure where to post this. When I tried to open a job in the web console I got the "HTTP error 500". The server guy restarted the server and now I cannot connect at all with the web browser. Any thoughts on this?

That should be fine. This KB has some information on server-side errors: https://kb.altiris.com/display/1n/in...L=&r=0.1351129. It suggests disabling friendly HTTP error codes on the client side as well as checking out your server logs for potential errors.

What do you mean by "cannot connect at all with the web browser"?

What error do you get? Is the browser local or on a PC?

IIS logs on the server are a good place to start.

OK an update on this issue. I boggled by this.

1. When I tried to open a job in the web console I got the "HTTP error 500", I could still connect and use every function of the Deployment Console.
2. We tried 4 different Computers with 4 different Users
3. No errors in the IIS6 logs
4. We restarted the servers
5. Now the web console would sit at "Web Site found. Waiting for Reply" for 5 minutes before timing out with no errors, I was still able to connect usig the Deployment Console.
6. Still no errors being thrown in the IIS6 logs
7. Ran a network capture and found nothing wrong
8. the server guy elevated me to server administrator permissions.
9. I was able to connect and use all of my functions through the Web Console.
10. the server guy removed my server admin status and put me back in the permission group I was previously in.
11. I was able to connect and use all of my functions through the Web Console, not only that but the other 3 people who were previously unable to connect can now connect and have full functionality as well. Their permissions were not altered in any way during the test with my permissions.
