Easter Eggs! Hd Sp3 & Sp4

Attention all HD6 sp3 and HD6 sp4 users, have I got a treat for you!
Wanna freak out your helpdesk? Change out their shortcut to their HD Worker console to this one and tell them you downgraded to HD 5.5!

They never used 5.5? Well then maybe pretending you downgraded to 5.6 will be a little more believable

Longing for the good old days of BBS systems and text browsers? Try this one:

Any StarTrek fans around? They had to remove the LCARS badging so as not to get sued, but you might find this looks familiar:

So has altiris gone mad? Maybe, but these have actually been floating around internally for about 2 years. They finally snuck into the "shipping" build.

Enjoy!

Mike

Sick tips Mike!

For as much as I worked with the solution including Dave Swanson and the bunch I never heard one mention of this.

Now if only this worked in NS too...

Yeah it's a pretty cool find. There's 0 documentation on it, I just sorta stumbled into it while I was working on something.

I'm putting together some of the Helpdesk labs that we'll use at MF Vegas this year. I'm thinking they should let Dom teach it as he's probably learned more about it then any of us by now.

I think I'll sticky this thread for a while. It's not only amusing, but gives you some ideas about the possibilities.

Be careful though, the System.config is not fair game for customization. Altiris will replace it if HD is upgraded or repaired. For your own customizations, be sure to name your override file custom.config. They syntax of the custom.config/system.config/web.config are identical. The system.config will override the web.config and the custom.config overrides all.

Hello Mike,

Good catch and thanks for the "teacher" position... I think all of us are learning a lot with this tool and this web site is really awesome. Doesn't matter the name it should remain and work as is.

Mike I am learning a lot from all of you.

it was launched last saturday. It has a couple of bug fixes, no new features. its stil so new that I don't think it's made it to the download page yet, but it is on solutionsam.

There's a thread in this forum discussing it. I copied the release notes to the page.

Thanks, Mike!

You're the man !!

Thanks, Mike !!

Mike

P.S. for some reason I couldn't get the BBS retro version working. We have Helpdesk Solution version 6.0.297 currently.

Those kinds of tips are always welcome as customization seems to be a colossal feat!

hmmmm.... I can't find it either... I check ftp://ftp.altiris.com/product/helpdesk and it's not there. Is it on the Altirigos file repository?

I will wait... my issue is in another thread, I am not able to install the files actIncident.ascx and actEditIncident.ascx in the folder Altiris\Notification Server\Controls to be able to edit the Notification policies needed for the Helpdesk Solution: High to ASAP for example the "Edit Automated Action" is not working. I have an incident opened and we have worked with Altiris Support for 6 hours today without any success...

from Repair to reinstallation of Helpdesk Solution, Alert Manager even NS and KB nothing worked...

I would like to make a test with SP3 to see if it works, then upgrade to SP4 I know it works as I did already several NS.

The only one failing is a straight installation on SP4 6.0.297

Let see tomorrow,

Thanks Mike,

I finally got the BBS version of the Helpdesk console to work. I must have not copied the entire URL into my browser or something. Anyways, it looks very nice and simplified, which some folks might find easier to work with than any of the other consoles. Very cool.

just saw this and I LOVE it...

is there a way to do it for the standard Incidents tab, rather than just for the "homeworker"?
