Links to Attahcments in E-mail Template

Hi All,

I've been looking into how to add links to attachments in E-mail Templates that go out to workers. That way they can download the attachments from NS without having necessarily to logon to HD. Has anyone already implemented such a solution or have any pointers on how to go about it?

Many thanks,
Chris

Talking

Place this code in your email template.

<tr>
<td class="txtMsgLabel">Attachment:&nbsp;</td>
<td class="txtMsgValue"><a href="HDQUERY[[Select url From dbo.workitem_attachment where dbo.workitem_attachment.workitem_number = WORKITEM(workitem_number)]]">HDQUERY[[Select name From dbo.workitem_attachment where dbo.workitem_attachment.workitem_number = WORKITEM(workitem_number)]]</a></td>
</tr>

Thanks!

Amber

Attachment Link

Hi Amber,

That is just great. Almost exaclty what I needed. The only trouble I have is representing spaces as %20 so that the link is a true HTML link that can be downloaded. Any ideas?

Many Thanks,
Chris

I am not sure what you are referring to. I have this in my email templates and I am able to view the attachments from the email that I receive. Below is what I see in my email and I click the attachment name and it will open.

Link

Thanks Amber,

What i was referring to is that the links to files that have spaces in them appear in the link with a space within the name since that is the way they appearin table workitem_attachment I would presume. Therefore when I try to download the files the attempt fails.

Any ides on how to present this link as:

My system appears to do that automatically. I have not had an issue opening any of my attachments.

Thanks!

Old post, I know...

A quick, lazy and late post on the subject....

For the problem with spaces and/or other characters, look at using the
REGEX[[value]][[match]][[replace]]
macro.

Put the HDQUERY macro for the value
".*(\s).*" for the match part
and "%20" for the replace

....

or something along those lines. See p244 of helpdesk_003.pdf
