broadcom network adapter hangs when a system performs a PXEboot
Hello there,
does anyone has seen or heard of this isseu and hopefully knows the solution.
We have a new server the Dell R300 with the networkadapter Broadcom B5722.
I've installed w2k3 standard edition R2 SP2 and SQL-server 2000 with SP4. DHCP configured. Installed Altiris DS 6.9 SP2 with PXEboot.
When i start a workstation with PXE it gets an IP and makes the mappings, but when it starts bootwork.exe the system hangs, but also the networkadapter of the server is not responding anymore. DHCP is still running, and can be restarted, also all services of Altiris are started and can be restarted. from a console on the server i can still ping to it's IP-address. but from a workstation i can't ping to this servers IPaddress. The server has to restart to get the networkadapter available again.
strange thing is, that if bootworks is remarked, and we start a PXE boot then i get the F: prompt, i can do a dir, but when i do a "dir boot*.* /s" on the F: drive then also the system hangs, and also is the server networkadapter unavailable, and do i have to restart the server.
the server has 2 adapters and for troubleshooting we made a second scope in DHCP in a other range to see what happens with DHCP. the second adapter is still working after a PXE boot, but the first adapter is no longer available from the outside.
We have updated the driver and the firmware, but this didn't solve the problem. Does anyone has a clue how to solve this?
thanks Richard
