"Restarting computer to prepare it for imaging..." make it stop!!!

We are trying to get an image of a wireless tablet computer and are having 2 problems.

-When we install the AClient, the computer does not appear in the console.

-If I boot directly to PXE (WinPE as we don't have a Linux driver for PXE) the server will tell the AClient to wait. We do have the exact driver installed, Intel Pro 100 VE. When I assign a create image job, the computer keeps rebooting, with "Restarting computer to prepare it for imaging..." appearing in the console.

-This image job works for other devices.

Please advise.

Are you trying to image with the wireless network card? That won't work, as far as I'm aware...

What version of DS are you using? How are you installing the AClient?

We are encountering this same issue on a select number of PCs.

Background:

DS 6.9 Build 179
32 Bit Linux PXE

We are an all Dell environment and use standardized models. So far out of about 150-200 new machines this summer, 2 fail to image. Boot to onboard nic w/PXE enabled. Altiris pre-selection yada yada yada. Right before the status bar shows up the computer reboots instead of imaging. When you take a new one off the shelf and use the same distribute image job there are no issues. So far we have encountered this issue on one optiplex 755, and one latitude d630. I have verified that all BIOS versions/settings are the same on every PC, both ones that work and ones that don't.

Hmmm... If you have a spare NIC laying around, throw that in one of the machines that isn't working.

Also, does the BIOS have a hard disk checking utility? Run that. And a RAM checker, if it has that.

I'm ruling out any problems with the image or the job because it works on other workstations.

I was able to get this issue fixed on the desktop by turning off multi core support in the BIOS as well as disabling dynamic proc acceleration and speedstepping. No luck with the laptop. =(

i am also suffering from this issue on a HP DC7700.

I have made changes to my image, re-sysprepped the image (-mini -reseal) and when i network boot the AClient immediately terminates and reboots the PC.

The DS says Restarting Computer to prepare for imaging??

Any help would be appreciated

If you are running sysprep yourself, make sure "do not boot to production" is checked in your create image job, and make sure that Altiris DS is not attempting to sysprep your machine for you.
