Dell E6500 SATA drivers

Good Afternoon,

I'm a new member here relatively new to DS. We're using DS6.9. Could someone point me in the right direction regarding a procedure to add Dell E6500 SATA drivers to WinPE?

Any help would be much appreciated.

KB article 40799

Question:
How do I add mass storage drivers in WinPE 2.1 with Deployment Solution?

Answer:
1. Run Boot Disk Creator.
2. Edit an existing WinPE 2.1 boot image, or create a new WinPE 2.1 boot image.
3. On the WinPE driver list page, click on the Have Disk button.
4. Browse to the .inf file for the driver, and select the .inf file.
5. Click OK to add the driver.
6. Now rebuild your WinPE boot images, and this new driver will be added to each WinPE 2.1 boot image.

It is not necessary to do this for every WinPE 2.1 boot image. Doing it for one is sufficient, but all the WinPE boot images need to be rebuilt to include the driver.

Actually, for the SATA, you switch to look for .oem and point to the TXTSETUP.OEM file. Inf is used for NIC drivers.

As I recall, you have to browse to the .oem file was for WinPE 1.6, and you should browse to the .inf file for WinPE 2.1. Mass storage driver support in WinPE 1.6 was weird, and in WinPE 2.1, they are treated now like any other kind of driver.

YOu could use Deploy Anywhere

It lets you add the SATA and NIC drivers to a database. You need to use ghost for the image then...Ghost has been incoorporated into DS 6.9 sp1
