Altiris 6.9 -> 6.9sp1 ; cannot connect to local DB management

Hello,

My predicament is that I was recently introduced to Altiris. Well, less introduced and more so sat infront of a broken install and told to upgrade it.
(Installed on Windows Server 2003 r2 sp2, along with HP RDP & HP SIM)

Before I did anything, I documented the current install as best as I could, and took note of what was working / what wasn't.

Altiris Console - working
Altiris Config - working
Altiris PXE Config - working
Altiris Web Console - not working
Altiris DataManager event log - regular failures to acess eXpress database
------
I tried running the upgrade software with some of their config requirements.

When prompted for a service account, I plugged in: ' userlocal ', an account with administrative and altiris administration privilidges on the local system. It also has sql permissions on the eXpress database though under the user name ' dbo ' and the login name of ' userlocal ' respectively.

Datamanager port 505
SQL port 1433
Deployment server 402
Web console 8081

Otherwise the install was set using essentially the default options pre-selected, and when prompted if I wanted to use the previous database, I selected yes.

Continued through the install process without any hiccups.
-----
Unfortunately, that just stopped the altiris console and the pxe connfig to stop working, both with a similar error.

"Unable to connect to Altiris Deployment Server DB Management Service. Please make sure this service has been started & is running correctly"

"PXE Manager Service has not connected with the DB server yet"

Checking under services, the DB Management and PXE services were running, as was the sqlserver.
----

If there's anything I can add to clarify or check on the system so there enough information to assess the situation, I would gladly.

Thank you for reading through this, and I appreciate any help that can be offered.

Sincerely,
-Aaron
