Altiris DS 6.9 & Winpe 2.1 not installing.
Hi.
I have just installed a new server and installed Altiris 6.9 on it.
All was going very well untill I started to install the PXe boot environment's.
Dos & Linux installed ok but both the WinPE 32/64 bit versions fail to install.
I use the Altiris boot creator to install the winpe Environments I tick the boxes for 32 & 64 bit and point the installer to the file locations of the msi's.
The msi's then start to install and complete the WAIk bit kicks in and appears to complete then it drops back to the Altiris boot creator where I beleive it then creates the final files and add's it to the pxe conig list. However it stops and gives "missing operating system files".
I have no idea what is wrong please can you help me.
I need to get Winpe installed.

Having the same issue as well. It installs than fails with the error "altiris error installing WINPE_X86 pre-boot operating system files".

Waik
I found a work around. That is try to install Microsoft's WAIK on the computer that you are running the Boot Disk Creator on. I was having the same issue then after installing that it worked fine for me.

Unfortunately, re-Installing WAIK didn't help me...
I too am having this issue after losing the drive containing the eXpress share.
I can get all the way through the PE installer, then it goes back to the Boot Disk utility and then i get the error: "Operating System files missing".
I've re-installed WAIK manually and then tried to reinstall the WinPE 2.1 with the same issue.
Does anyone have any other suggestions or work arounds?

another tidbit for ya...
you say 6.9 but what SP level?
the pxe boot files are specific and you need to obtain the new ones per each service pack level.....

yeah, l believe as earlier stated it is an xml issue. Have had this problem before where windows thought xml was installed, but had become corrupted.
took a while to troubleshoot.
