Simple Inventory Question

If I'm running my Software inventory in Package mode, but I have people who have their heart set on seeing a specific executable on their reports can I just add that executable to the File masks section or will I need to switch it to record each executable individually?

Well a simple follow up. I added the specific file name to my file masks and it didn't pick up the specific file instead it still got the "Package Name" even when doing a cleanbeforerun.

Thoughts?

Any reason you don't want to switch to File mode?

It gives much better results in my opinion.

I don't have a good reason other than I'm not sure what kind of impact it would have on Database size and inventory runtime.

Does anyone have any experience with the change and know what kind of impact we might have?

Just a note: Also I found a work around by making sure that this executable shows before the exe filter in my filters for the Auditpls.ini file.

Impact and runtime increase should be minimal as the inventory already touches each file.

Database hit would be more as each file would be listed.
