Random Inventory AeXRunControl.exe

I need to set up random inventory at my school and not quite sure how to go about it. After reading this article, https://kb.altiris.com/display/1n/ar...r=5.483645E-02

I cloned the default Hardware inventory and replaced the default command line with this

"AeXRunControl.exe" /rndschedule "Inventory" "AeXInvSoln.exe /hidden /s AeXInvSolnAdm1.ini" WEEKLY 2 5/useHKCU /d:1-3600 /now

I then started the job on a test machine and It says it's running but the AeXRunControl.exe is not doing anything. This should take maybe 10 minutes at the most because it's a vm and I'm not doing the clean before install command.

I've been looking all over and although the KB article is good I wanted to know what I should expect to see when this is running. I can see that it created the registry keys so that's a start.

Aexruncontrol works in this instance by running for between 1 and 3600 seconds and then randomly triggering the aexinvsoln command:

Thanks for your reply, I've pretty much got this nailed down now and found this article to be the most complete and informative.

I find that randomizing the inventory would be the way to go on a large organization where all 32 bit machines will be randomizing the inventory, but in this case it was only going to be a certain site. I know this should act the same way but, at this time there is no way to define these machines. Computer names are all different and there are over 120 subnets. Right now I'm going to keep it simple and stick with the default. If this doesn't work out then I'll come back.
