PXE NIC drivers for the DS

Please post your tips,tricks and best practices here:

Currently I need to add the NIC Drivers for the new Dell E6500 Laptops to our DS so that it can discover new laptops (Dell E- series) when plugged into the network.

I was having trouble with this as well. Every time I tried to add the NIC drivers through the driver installation in the BootWiz the information (after I pointed to the INF file) came up blank and the driver didn't install. I followed the instructions in Altiris KB article 19067 to install the drivers manually and that worked fine. I am using DS 6.8 SP2.

Sure, sorry about that. You should get the Mass Storage Drivers page, which you will follow the same steps to install the NIC driver for the E6500 (probably the entire E-series line as well).

I was able to get the drivers to add in DS 6.8 by copying one section of the .inf to another. If you look at the .inf file where it lists the drivers with vendor and device ID, they are under a heading of Windows 5.1.1. If you see the section right below that for Windows 5.1, it's empty. I copied the list for 5.1.1 and pasted it in 5.1 and the drivers showed up when adding.

Actually I am using the PXE Configuration Utility and that seems to be working just fine for now. I just have a dozen more remote PAckage servers to update and all should be a go. I will post my level of success by noon I think.
