Porn spammers

More information on this subject.

Looks like a spammer utility released an update that helps spammers bypass preventative measures by the software I use for the forums (vbulletin).

Nearly every vbulletin based forum on the internet has been hit by spamming 'bots over the past day or two. I've implemented some steps that I hope will thwart this. As well as some additional measures to come.

Cheers,

Nick

Thanks for keeping us updated, Nick...

Does this new utility overcome CAPTCHA?

Jenn,

Yeah that's exactly what it is doing. I've put some other measures in place already but have a couple more to finish.

Further update

I've turned user registration back on today. Hopefully the measures I have put in place so far will thwart the spam bots.

The measures may be a bit annoying to our newer users but I believe it is worth it if it will keep the adult content off the site.

If anyone experiences any issues or if a spammer does get onto the site please PM me and I will take care of it as soon as I can.

Cheers,

Hopefully the creator's own forum got hit by it (if they have one).
