Question itemcachesize Core too small.

I'm getting the following error in the NS7 errorlog.

Itemcachesize core setting is too small to satisfy the level of cachable item load requests received.
Current Size: 3000

Where can i change this setting?

Howdy,

I know i'm a little late in the reply here but I wanted to share the solution Altiris gave me as well.

In coresettings.config you need to adjust 2 numbers and then restart IIS
<customSetting key="ItemCacheSize" type="local" value="12000" />
and
<customSetting key="ClientPolicyCacheMaxSize" type="local" value="11000" />

Your values will be much lower than mine in the default config. Increment each value by 1000, restart IIS and wait for the error to reoccur. If it does repeat the same steps until the error message stops occuring. My values are what worked for my particular server but may be different for you.

Thanks,
P

I'm going to advise some caution when altering your coresettings.config file. I'd make a copy/back up of it first before you make your alterations. I've had some cases where manually altering the file has corrupted it.

You should always use the NSConfigurator, when possible. In v7 has been moved to \Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\bin\tools. You no longer have to install it, just run the .exe.

It displays the settings in a tree view, but it has a search function, so you can search for 'item cache' or 'client policy'.
