Awesome! I know this addresses a memory issue with x64 machines and Altiris will tell you to upgrade anyway. LOL.

1am??? You're nutz! Nice work.

Looks to be a good update if everything in the release notes actually works. The bug with "Package Servers Individually" has been driving me nuts!

Yes the best way to stay ahead of Altiris upgrades/Service Packs/Hotfixes is to just apply the newest one as soon as possible; or never make the version jump (6.0 to 6.1). Just when you finish testing one NS rollup and get it deployed, along comes another one. Does look to be a good one; maybe this will finally resolve our lingering Inventory Forwarding issues...

My 4 y/o has moved off of playing WoW as much and is now full engrossed in Halo2 multiplayer.

I've got 4 xbox's setup in the gameroom and the neighborhood kids practically run down the road as my wife pulls into the community bringing him home from school on the week days.

We end up having 8 - 10 kids 4 - 11 y/o's old over at the house ever evening and weekend playing hour long games. I have to tell you, it is absolutely brilliant watching the two youngest (4 y/o each) owning the older kids. The 4 y/o's tactic of choice you may ask? Jumping into a vehicle and "splattering" anyone that gets in their way.

The question is Nick......

When Halo 3 comes out the 25th of this month, are you going to have 4 Xbox 360s in the household.....if so I will be over!

Hah!

Heh. That is the question my son and all the other kids keep asking me.

Four 360's aren't going to happen but I might get a couple of them, though my wallet likes paying $60 for an original xbox instead of $400 for a 360.

I've already priced out putting two 42" LCD tv's in the gameroom to replace some of the CRT televisions so I may as well do it right and get it all at the same time.

If I do get it setup in time for Halo3 I'll let you know when the lan party is.

Please forgive me if this is obvious or posted elsewhere, but i did a search and couldn't find anything.

Does this update fix the All 32-bit Windows Workstations (and 64-bit) collection to include Vista boxes? It appears that these collections are hard coded to find known versions of Windows, but Vista isn't included in the SQL. Has this been fixed yet?

Similarily, canned Office reports don't seem to recognize Office 2007. Can i expect Altiris to update their canned reports to report Office 07, or do they leave that to their customers to handle?

Any info is appreciated!

Hey TJ,
Yes, Vista boxes are listed in those collections now (as of R5 for sure, and possibly in R4). I just checked and found 5 or 6 unauthorized Vista boxes. Time to call the OS Police!

kastyan,
No problems on our end, the console seems a bit faster and more responsive as well (and the issues documented as fixed in the RElease Notes do seem to actually be fixed).

Unfortunately the Altiris Agent hotfix for v6.1.2387 of the Altiris Agent is not included in the R6 update, though it will (last I heard) be in the R7 rollup. In the meantime, you still need to request the Altiris Agent hotfix from Altiris Support directly.

Hello,

I just installed two new Notifications Servers with the products from solutionsam:
Notification Server 6.0.6074
KB34317

I noticed that the Altiris Agent served is still 6.0.2338 which is not the current one

The current one should be at least 6.0.2386 that I have on the other Notification Servers.

Which process download the proper Altiris Agent except Configuration --> Altiris Agent --> Altiris Agent Rollout --> Altiris Agent Upgrade?

What is it not supposed to be installed by the latest version of NS or at least of hotfixes? Which Solution(s) or package need it?

BTW: the version in E:\Application\Notification Server\NSCap\Bin\Win32\X86\NS Client Package is correct 6.0.2386?

...............
I see it seems the hotfix 34317 download the agent but do not upgrade it....

Dom,
If you have the "Run once ASAP" selected as the schedule for the Altiris Agent Upgrade task, it will only run once. Also check the registry on the NS; what do you have for "Version" at HKLM\Software\Altiris\eXpress\NS Client Package?

Or is the issue that the version displayed in the "Altiris Agent Package" is still showing 6.0.0.2338? If that is all, you can change it if you want to.

Also, when building/installing your NSes, always connect directly at the server's console (using physical Keyboard/mouse/monitor) of if you can't do that then use:
mstsc.exe /console /v:servername

The /console switch forces Remote Desktop Client to connect to the server's console connection which should always be done when installing/upgrading software on the server.

R7

I have updated to R7 but I have not deployed the new agent yet (2389) I am still running with 2386. Anyone else do an upgrade? We are hoping this fixes our ASP error with ASP using the wrong version of .NET. Despite being registered to use 1.1 we occasionally get .NET 2.0 errors. I am thinking, based upon the fixed issue list, this will resolve the problem. I also wonder what happens with SQL2005 since my DBA's are pushing for the upgrade (requires .NET 2.0 which is why it was on this server, we held off the upgrade after the initial .NET errors).
