February 08 - Office Patch Problems

PC Criteria : Windows 2000 or XP with Office 2000 SP3, MS07-044 and MS08-009

Issue: After deploying MS08-013 the PC is now listed as vulnerable for MS07-044 and MS08-009

Description: As soon as the PC is patched with MS08-013, Altiris reports it as requiring MS07-044 and MS08-009 and will reinstall the patches(repeatedly). After the patches are reinstalled the PC is still listed as requiring the patches.

Has anyone else seen this? My assumption is that the criteria that Altiris uses to detect these patches is being modified by MS08-013 and then after the patches are re-installed they are not overwriting the changes of MS08-013.

Thanks
Ryan

Any luck?

Ryan,

Have you had any luck with this? We are running into the same exact problem with the same exact patch.

Thanks.
Ben

Dont really know if the pmimport.cab is incorrect, but you can always check the IsInstalled and IsApplicable rules to see if it is.

This should get you started.

Thanks. This is only happening to a random subset of computers too.

Article 19729 seems like even though this is a different patch, it is the same symptom. Has anyone else seen anything like this??

It seems like the most recent PMImport file (august 26th) has cleared up 90 percent of our problems!
