Remote Control issues...again

I can't seem to remote control any of my machines again for some reason. I had this issue with the 6.1.394 version of the client and updated to the most recent version and it worked fine for a month or 2...now I'm back in the same boat again. All of my jobs run great I just can't remote to any of the machines. Anyone have a suggestion?

How many clients are hitting the box?

How often are they reporting inventory to this DS?
Can you upgrade to 6.1.401?
I know after I upgraded to this version I was able to remote control and most of the aclient using 100% cpu stopped.

If this is Carbon Copy remote control, there is a link you can go to on the NS box to make sure you licenses are validating correctly. I had a problem where by NS box was so taxed that it basically moved the license validation to the lowest priority and the connection would time out. How many jobs are in your evtQueueFast? If that is never emptying, then that may be your issue as well.

Are you getting the login promt? Not getting it? Walk us through the typical failure.

How many machines are connecting to the server? If yes, delete the contents of that folder with a batch script and retry to connect. If your successful then you need to tune your server to minimize your event processing.

Are you using AppMetering? Do you have Start/Stop events reporting for all applications?

When you updated did you check your Carbon Copy Client Config to make sure nothing was reset?

All I can think of at the moment, but try those and let us know.

I just realized this was posted in the DS section.. Sorry.. I have never, ever seen any problems with DS remote control. All I can think of is are the clients using XP SP2? Firewall block?

Hey guys...all of the clients are 6.1.401 now and I'm having the same issue. They have been this version for the last couple of months as I stated above. I am running XP SP2 of course but have the firewall feature disabled at the moment.

Nah, no problems with DNS at all...I am also having power control problems too I noticed. So it seems to be remote control and all power functions (Shut Down, restart, etc.) This is the exact same problem I had when I first went to 6.1.394 and it was recommended to do the upgrade to take care of the problem, and it did for awhile. Seems lots of folks had the issue with 6.1.394 but don't see alot about 6.1.401. Still baffled at this point...
