Count by reports...

I've been tasked to build a report with the following information:

Grouped by System type (D610, D410, 380,...)

After this grouping, I would like to see the counts for the following:

CPU Type
Memory amount
Drive size

I can get the basic report, but getting the counts version, I have a little trouble with. If we could make the Count by a drop down list option, that would be great. That way, we could pull Count by CPU Type or Memory Amount, or Drive Size.

Can anyone help? As always, I appreciate it...

Thanks,

Jen

So you would want a dropdown with the following static list:
CPU Type
Memory amount
Drive size

ANd then the report would only give you a count for just that value? Sounds like you are trying to maybe tie 3 different queries into 1 report?

Yeah, basically... I can create the reports...it's making them into "Count by" reports that I have trouble with...

Count by reports

Hi Jen,
Import the attached report. I'm pretty sure this is what you're after. Keep in mind that for drive size, it will report the size of all disks.

Dan,

Thanks so much! This is very close. I think the only change is the memory. If I could get the table that shows MB instead of KB, that will do the trick. I will look at the SQL and see if I can do this myself. I tend to learn my example and what you've provided is fantastic.

Thanks again for the help!

Jen

So...a couple changes that I can't figure out...

I don't want System Manufacturer...that's a given in the Computer Model (at least for us)
I want to change CPU Type to CPU Speed
I want to change Physical Disk to Logical Disk - I think I got this one
I want to change Total Physical Memory to Total Physical Memory (MB) - Again I think I got this one

The GroupBy should always be Computer Model for each query.

Lastly, we want to filter so it's LIKE %Dell% - Again, I was able to do this part.

Otherwise, it's what we're looking for...

Count by reports

Hi Jen,
I've attached the new report for you. I was going to talk you through each change but there were too many!
Hopefully you can see what I've done. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
I didn't add the like '%dell%' criteria as you said you knew what to do for that,
everything else should now be there.
