Default Collections

Hello...

Is there a way I can set all my reports to default to a collection I created? Right now, when we go to run a report, we have to choose the proper collection to report from. Our management wants to be able to run a report and have our created collection be the default one to run from.

Thanks!

There may be a way to do it from the SQL side but I've never heard of anyone doing it.

OK, thanks, I was really hoping there was a way!

Maybe something they should look into for the next version.

If your reports implements a collection picker, you can define a default collection by editing the XML that defines the report.

I've extracted this from a built in PM report :

- <parameter type="custom" assemblyName="Altiris.NS.StandardItems, Version=6.0.5287.1019, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=d516cb311cfb6e4f" typeName="Altiris.NS.StandardItems.Query.ItemPickerParameter" filterClass="a725fb57-09e1-4e9f-bb13-b4600094cf61" excludeDescendents="False" prompt="True" name="_Collection" substituted="true">
- <default>
- <![CDATA[{EB3A1A12-E1C7-4431-B060-F0333E4E488C} ]]>f(clean);
</default>

- <prompt>
- <![CDATA[Collection: ]]>f(clean);
</prompt>

</parameter>
If you change the Guid in the default section you should be able to change the default collection.

It would be nice though if we were able to define a default collection when defining the report parameter.
