Automatically Move Computer Objects from All Computers to Sub Folders in DS 6.9 Con

Okay, weird request.

We're running DS 6.9 and we've noticed the annoying issue of computer objects that sit under the All Computers organizational unit have the tendency to disappear in the right pane or will not come up when doing a filtered search - even though we know they are there - because we can go down the list on top left pane and find it. Its frustrating.

What I found as a workaround is to deposit the objects into subfolders - one called Desktops, another laptops, one called severs and one called VM. If the computer resides in one of these subfolders under All computers - we have no issues with it disappearing or searching. Thus far, I've had to move new objects manually to the subfolders.

So anyway - I'm wondering if there's a way to set a new object to go directly to one of these servers by their make or model name or type or something...

Any thoughts?

I don't know about your request... but the issue you're describing is the refresh bug that is supposed to be fixed with 6.9 SP1.

Yep, here's the article: https://kb.altiris.com/article.asp?article=41648&p=1

Cause

This is caused due to one or more of the following:
First, in Deployment Solution 6.9, new security-related features were added that require a larger SQL query upon each console refresh. Second, when the same user account is used to login to Deployment Solution from multiple consoles, the consoles may refresh at exactly the same time. This causes jobs and computers to appear to "disappear."

Resolution

This bug is fixed in Deployment Server 6.9 SP1
