HP ProtectTools Security Manager

Cant seem to find the switches for the HP ProtectTools Security Manager for the 6530b laptop. I can deploy the app with no switches and it works just fine.... but cant find a way to do an unattend install....

anyone else use this?

Here's a good summary of some of the main packaging solutions:

WOW my head hurts now...

i tried many of those switches.... there are custom dialog boxes that come up and I dont think I can get around this.... will have to look into it later today...

worse case is I install this app at the very end so everything else will execute and have the tech click the next button a few times....

HP ProtectTools

Which version are you trying to install

we install with:
msiexec /i "path to \windows XP(SE).msi" /qn REBOOT=SUPPRESS

we then install the SE gina update with the following

msiexec /i "path to \se update.msi" /qni" /qn REBOOT=SUPPRESS

Then reboot to take effect.

ProtectTools-Suite\sp41408

no text file, no readme, no doc, no pdf... weird...

anyhow there is a
setup.exe
setup.msi - cant execute as it says run setup.exe
HPPTSuiteInstallEngine.exe - also wont run individually...

the guy at hp said (in an email)
just do setup.exe /s

i tried that and it doesnt like it...

also file version says...
ProtectTools Suite main install executable
4.0.8.6

HP Protect

I would look at getting another copy or running in msiexec sounds like it might be corrupt.

well it seems that they like keeping the installs simple... i simply installed TOO much... so time to rip out most of the install...

one of the comments I got was... I know you like the IBM Thinkpad stuff.... but.....

and the HP security stuff is one that has to go I was told..
