Script to install software

Once we assign software to a machine and force a machine 'check-in' the software will not download or install until the next hour.

How can we force the agent to download and install the software via script?

I think you may need to update collection membership too.

If the task is shown as assigned in Resource Manager for the computer it should then run once the client updates.

We're not using DS, purely NS.

Basically, the script we are developing is running client side when we reimage a box.

In NS how do you "assign software to a machine"?

You need to use Resource Explorer (double click on the machine record in the NS console) and see if the Software Delivery Task is listed as assigned to the machine before you get the Altiris Agent to Update Configuration.

Also, often when you reimage a box, if the old record exists in NS it won't update things you expect it to. For a while NS will think it already has, say, the Patch Management agent installed until it gets new inventory back and also updates it's collections.
