Esx 3.5

I am a Windows admin by trade and it has taken me 0.5 day to install the ADLAgent on an ESX 3.5 box. The main problem was working out how to mount the cd-rom.

I have an application that is supported on RHEL 4/5 and ESX 3.0 and above, but when l send down a script it fails on the 1st task which is a "Copy File To" task. The error is "undefined exit code: 1". It is meant to copy to /tmp/trend. It has created the folder but no files have been transferred.

The same job works perfectly under RDEL 4/5. Any ideas?

It seems that the copy problem is unique to my test ESX box. If l try a copy task on one of the production esx boxes it works fine. Would still like to troubleshoot this error as l don't to install the app on my production box without testing it first.

Have you hard coded the file transfer port in the DS console to say port 4400? Did you open a port on the ESX server firewall to allow communication on that port and port 402?

Just some thoughts.

i agree

i agree with TRYDL ,,, you probably havent opened the firewall on the esx server for altiris to work

esxcfg-firewall --openPort 402,tcp,out,adlagent
esxcfg-firewall --openPort 4300,tcp,out,adlagentFileTransfer

4300 can be what ever you like its a port you set your altiris server to use , 402 is a standard port

There is an akb 43318 about that:

esxcfg-firewall –openport 401:402,tcp,in,adl_in
esxcfg-firewall –openport 401:402,tcp,out,adl_out

/etc/init.d/adlagent restart

This will allow for ADLAgent and Deployment Server to communicate.

Regards,
