Vmware ESX 2.5.2 deployment
Since the new esx was out, figured I'd deploy one with deployment server. I am using HP Rapid Deployment Pack 2.1 which is Altiris 6.1 + some built in configurations for HP servers. ESX 2.5.2 deployment went fine, however even though the server is up, it wasn't communicating with the Deployment Server. I tried re-running the post install script, didn't work. I tried running ./altiris-adlagent-2.2-23.i386.bin, and I got "Terminated". Figured maybe my agent is not supported on ESX 2.5.2. I had only little time to research for issues 2.5.2, and couldn't find much. Anybody found something similar? Is there a newer version of the binary I can download?

let me answer my own question;
the agent that comes with DS 6.1 does not work on vmware esx 2.5.2 for some reason. I installed DS 6.5 to some test box, grabed the new adlagent*.bin from it, and manually installed it on ESX 2.5.2 server, and booomm.. it starts working Figured I'd post it here just in case anybody runs across a similar issue

If everyone could start answering their own questions, that would really be great.

Sounds like something a sales guy would say!

Miami U. and our implementation
It is a little disheartening to read some of the stuff I read in these forums . We are new to TMS and are having a real time of this and when I see moderators/altiris support saying things like that, even in jest it is a bummer. Sorry to rain on the parade .

Ricardo,
I believe everyone is entitled to an opinion and wouldn't think to take offense to you voicing them in the manner you have.
I don't believe Jeremy meant any offense when he said what he did and I was making a joke on Jeremy since I know he's on the sales side of the Altiris organization.
Also understand that this site is in no way affliated with Altiris, Inc. Rather it is a forum for people that use the product to come together to try and help each other and at times to make light hearted jokes when frustration sets in.
I can fully appreciate your feelings though. The CMS level of the Altiris product can be a handful if you are just experiencing. Using the TMS level is like being given the whole toy store on Christmas day. Lots of things to play with and more questions than answers to go along with it.
I truly hope that you feel that you can come to this forum expecting to get honest answers and information from people that are using the product just like you are.
My apologies that you found the previous post comments to be in bad form and I hope to see you around the forum discussions.
Best regards,
Nick Graham

As Nick said, these forums are not affiliated with Altiris, Inc. in any way whatsoever. The support here is provided as-is, free of charge, in the spirit of the community. It's sort of like a gigantic user group.
I've been working with the software for a lot of years now (my entire professional life) and I see new problems on a regular basis. Unfortunately, some of the time, even experienced professionals don't know the answer to a particular question. Troubleshooting a problem or question yourself often leads to a reasonable solution.
